In this post, we are going to learn how to focus. It is one of the most important things we must know how to do otherwise we cannot do or learn anything. Now if you look at the infographic, statistics suggest that 95 % of people struggle to focus. And today with all these Apps and social networks it is becoming even more difficult to focus. I am not an exception as well, but I did a number of things to help myself to focus better. You can find out what I did in bullet point # 2 after the infographic.
Alright, please see what is given in the infographic and at the end I have also provided my commentaries for each and every point given in the infographic (except the last one about a pet).
1. Keep your food at desk
I am not saying you should cut off your lunch or dinner time in order to be super productive but when you have some urgent tasks, having some meals on your desk will help you stay focused and get more things done. Remember that when you leave your task to have a meal, then you may find it difficult to get back to a work mood again.
2. Turn off your phone
Phones have become one of biggest distractions nowadays since they become smart. You can practically do anything you want with you phone now. That’s why turn it off and you will find yourself in a complete peace. Just about two weeks ago I have deleted my WhatsApp, Facebook, Gmail and other apps. Results are awesome. I do not check my mobile every 5 minutes when crossing the roads, talking my friends and writing blog posts. I fully focus on what I should do.
3. Get a chair
Well, if you do not have money to buy a comfortable chair right now, you do not have to. I understand. I also do not have that extra money to buy myself a chair. However, the idea is that you should make yourself as comfortable as possible so that you can sit and start working to produce maximum results.
4. Make a to-do list
Creating such a list will remind you what things need to be done during the day helping you stay focused on your current tasks, priorities and getting things done. There are tons of free to-do-list Apps on the Internet to download, but I highly recommend using Wunderlist It is super easy to use.
5. Put headphone
Or just play some background music to energize yourself. I usually play lounge music when creating my posts and it helps me think faster and generate ideas for awesome content. Please, remember to play a music, not a song. In music, there is no singer pronouncing a lot of words. Song does not work for me. When I hear singers singing I get distracted. Anyway just see what works for you.
6. Clear your desks
Make sure you only have necessary things on your desk. Ohhhhh…. do not tell me it is an office and it should look messy. No… office must look neat and accurate. It all starts from your desk. If your desk is messy full of junk stuff then I am sure the same situation exists in your mind and in everything you do. Clear your desk to get more focused.
7. Shut off everything
Tell me why do you need that Facebook, What’s App, Instagram Apps sending you notifications every other 2 minutes? Why you keep checking your e-mail every 5 minutes even though you are not expecting anything urgent from anyone. Shut down all of them. All of them. Period.
8. Time yourself
Whatever gets a deadline get’s done. This is what I believe in though I hate the word ‘deadline’ myself. Every time when I am doing something, I give myself small and informal deadlines helping myself get more focused on my tasks. For example, when I have finished my new post and put it on my web-site I can say “Spend only 10 minutes to find the most appropriate and beautiful picture for your post”. Whatever the picture I find within that time period I use it for my post. If I do not give myself this small deadline, I may spend a whole day searching for the best ideal picture.
9. Reward yourself
If you want to get many things done without losing your focus, you should definitely reward yourself in between the process. Now reward can be in any form. It can be a cup of coffee with sweets, apple, a short walk and etc. For example, for me my reward is calling my friend who has a good sense of humor and laugh or having cookies with some tea. I love it. It makes me happy. It raises my mood. As a result, I feel refreshed and I want to do more. This is how it works for me.
10. Frame a picture of your goal
Well, I do it mentally. I have a framed picture of my goal in my mind and every day I do something little to reach that goal. For example, I want buy X thing next year but for that I need X amount of $. So I save a little by little every day. When I am economizing my money and saving every day or every week I recall myself that mentally framed picture of my goal. Or let me give you another example. I want to increase the daily number visitors of my site from X to XX and so I am creating and publishing new posts every day. When I writing every day I recall that framed picture of my goal.
